International Season 1987/88, Part 8 (March 1988)

March

Laszlo Balint started as Hungary Manager.
Holland tied England (2-2) at Wembley, while France defeated Spain (2-1).
For Republic of Ireland’s friendly vs. Romania, Steaua Bucharest players boycotted the match as protest against Rangers Glasgow player/manager Graeme Souness’ vicious foul against Iosif Rotariu in the Champions Cup.
Wales, with David Williams serving as Acting Manager, lost at home vs. Yugoslavia.
At the end of the month the Berlin Easter Tournament featuring West Germany, Argentina, USSR and Sweden started.
Paolo Maldini made his International debut at the age of 19 in a Friendly vs. Yugoslavia.
