Ronald Cocks was a Malta International from the 1960s-70s.
He notably had two spells at Sliema Wanderers.
He earned 21 caps between 1966 and 1978.
He passed away on May 16th, aged 73.

Raúl Córdoba Alcalá was a Mexican International goalkeeper from the 1950s.
He played for Atlas, Leon, Oro and Toluca among others.
He was on Mexico’s 1950 World Cup squad.
He passed away on May 17th, aged 93.


Todor Veselinović 

Todor Veselinović was a Yugoslavian International striker and later Manager.
He had spells at Vojvodina and later abroad at Sampdoria, First Vienna among others.
He also had a long career as a Manager in South America and Europe.
He managed the Yugoslavian National Team, though it ended in disappointment at the 1984 Euros.
He earned 37 caps between 1953 and 1961.
He passed away on May 17th, aged 86.

Marcos Tulio Coll Tesillo 

Marcos Tulio Coll Tesillo was a Colombian midfielder from the 50s and 60s.
He played for Deportes Tolima in two spells and also represented America Cali.
He represented Colombia in the 1962 World Cup.
He earned 11 caps between 1956 and 1962.
He passed away on June 5th, aged 81.

Giuliano Sarti was an Italian goalkeeper from the 50s and 60s.
He is remembered as the goalkeeper of ‘Grande Inter’ of the 1960s.
He also had a long spell at Fiorentina and a short one at Juventus.
He earned 8 caps between 1959 and 1967.
He passed away on June 5th, aged 83.

Cheick Ismaël Tioté 

Cheick Ismaël Tioté was an Ivory Coast International Midfielder from the last decade.
He had spells at Anderlecht, Roda JC Kerkrade, Twente Enschede and Newcastle United before joining the Chinese League.
He earned 52 caps between 2009 and 2015.
He passed away on June 5th, aged just 30 while training with his club.

Jan Martin Gerardus Notermans was a Dutch midfielder from the 50s and 60s.
He served Ajax Fortuna’54 and Sittardia.
He earned 25 caps between 1956 and 1960.
He also managed teams at home and West Germany in the late 60s into the early 80s.
He passed away on June 8th, aged 84.

Jacques Foix was a French striker from the 50s and 60s.
He had spells at RC Paris, Saint Etienne, OGC Nice and Toulouse.

Frode Larsen was a Norwegian player from the 60s and 70s.
He played for Brann for over a decade.
He earned 7 caps in 1975.
He passed away on June 20th, aged 68.


Anthonie ‘Tonny’ van der Linden 

Anthonie ‘Tonny’ van der Linden  was a Dutch striker from the 50s and 60s.
He had spells at DOS and Elinkwijk.
He earned 24 caps between 1957 and 1963.
He passed away on June 23rd, aged 84.

José Manuel Mourinho Félix

José Manuel Mourinho Félix was a Portuguese goalkeeper from the 50s into the 70s.
He had spells at Setubal and Belenenesses. He also had a long career as Manager from the 70s onwards.
He earned a spolitary cap in 1972.
He passed away on June 25th, aged 79.

Stéphane Paille 

Stéphane Paille was a French striker from the 80s and 90s.
He rose to prominence in  the 80s as part of France’s 1988 U-21 winning squad, where he formed an effective partnership with his friend Eric Cantona.
The duo were signed at Montpellier together in 1989 but did not succeed.
After starting out at Sochaux, he joined Montpellier before spells at Porto and Caen among others before ending up in Scotland at Hearts in the 90s.
He earned 8 caps between 1986 and 1989.
He passed away on June 27th, aged only 52 on his birthday.

Louis Nicollin 

Louis Nicollin was a French businessman who took over French club Montpellier in the 70s and was responsible for its rise in French soccer in the 80s and 90s with Laurent Blanc amongst one of his star players.
He was colorful and sometimes controversial character through his outspokenness.
He had a love-hate relationship with Michel Mezy with whom he collaborated many times.
Under Nicollin Montpellier won the French Cup in 1990 and the League title in 2012.
He passed away on June 29th, aged 74 on his birthday.

László Kovács 

László Kovács was a Hungarian goalkeeper from the 70s and 80s.
He had spells at Viedoton and Raba Eto.
He was a member of Hungary’s 1978 World Cup squad.
He earned 80 caps between 1981 and 1991.
He passed away on June 30th, aged 66.

Ayan Faikov Sadakov 

Ayan Faikov Sadakov was a Bulgarian midfielder from the 70s into the 90s.
He had two separate spells at Lokomotiv Plovdiv.
He represented Bulgaria in the 1986 World Cup.
He earned 58 caps between 1976 and 1988.
He passed away on July 1st,  aged 55.

John Archibald McKenzie 

John Archibald McKenzie was a Scottish International winger from the 40s into the 60s.
He played for a number of teams including Patrick Thistle and Fulham.
He earned 9 caps between 1953 and 1955.
He passed away on July 5th,  aged 91.


Heinz Schneiter 

Heinz Schneiter was a Swiss defender from the 50s and 60s.
He played mainly for Young Boys Bern and later managed the side in the 70s.
He was a member of Switzerland’s 1962 and 1966 World Cup squads.
He earned 44 caps between 1957 and 1966.
He passed away on July 6th, aged 82.

Josef Hamerl 
Josef Hamerl was an Austrian striker from the 50s and 60s.
He mostly represented clubs in Vienna such as Wiener SC and Admira Wien.
He was a member of Austria’s 1958 World Cup squad.
He earned 9 caps between 1958 and 1962.
He passed away on July 15th,  aged 86.

Marcel Kunz was a Swiss goalkeeper from the 60s and 70s.
He represented Basel for over a decade.
He earned 14 caps between 1967 and 1971.
He passed away on July 22nd, aged 74.


Waldir Peres de Arruda 

Waldir Peres de Arruda was a Brazilian goalkeeper from the 70s and 80s.
The Sao Paulo goalkeeper is remembered as Brazil’s goalkeeper in the glorious 1982 side managed by Tele Santana.
In some circles he was looked upon as one of the scapegoats for Brazil’s failure, despite being a fine goalkeeper.
He later managed many teams in Brazil in short spells.
He earned 39 caps between 1975 and 1982.
He passed away on July 23rd, aged 66.

Perivlado was a Brazilian defender from the 70s and 80s.
His best spell was at Botafogo in the late 70s into the early 80s.

Abdelmajid Dolmy was a Moroccan midfielder from the 70s into the 90s.
He mainly represented Raja Casablanca.
He was a member of Morocco’s 1986 World Cup squad.
He earned 140 caps between 1973 and 1991.
He passed away on July 27th, aged 64.

He had a notable spell at Dinamo Moscow.

Hr later became a Manager and managed his Nation from 1978 to 1987.
He passed away on August 7th, aged 77.

Beethoven Javier was a Uruguay player from the 60s and 70s.
He had spells at Nacional and Defensor Sporting, among others.
He earned 5 caps between 1976 and 1977.
He passed away on August 9th, aged 70.

Pertti Johannes Alaja 

Pertti Johannes Alaja was a Finnish goalkeeper from the 70s and 80s.
He played for a number of local sides before joining the Edmonton Drillers and Malmo in Sweden.
He was also the President of Finland Football Federation.
He earned 29 caps for his Nation.
He passed away on August 18th, aged 65.

Élmer Ángel Acevedo 

Élmer Ángel Acevedo was an El Salvador International striker from the 60s and 70s.
He spent his career at local side FAS.
He was a member of El Salvador’s 1970 World Cup squad.
He passed away on August 30th, aged 68.

Piet Ouderland 

Piet Ouderland was a Dutch International from the 50s and 60s.
He had a long spells at Ajax , also played for AZ’67 among others.
He was also a Dutch International at Basketball.
He earned 7 caps between 1962 and 1963.
He passed away on September 3rd, aged 84.

Nicolae Lupescu 

Nicolae Lupescu was a Romanian defender from the late 50s into the 70s.
He had spells at Rapid Bucharest and later at Admira Wacker in Austria.
He was a member of Romania’s 1970 World Cup squad. He was also the father of 90s International Ion Lupescu.
He also managed Rapid Bucharest on a number of occasions.
He earned 21 caps between 1964 and 1972.
He passed away on September 6th, aged 76.

Humberto Jorge Rosa 

Humberto Jorge Rosa was an Argentinean-born midfielder who spent several years in the Italian League in the 50s and 60s.
He joined Sampdoria from Rosario Central and later had spells at Padova, Juventus and Napoli.
He also managed a number of Teams in Italy.
He passed away on September 8th, aged 85.

Robert Johnston McCann was a Scottish International from the 50s and 60s.
He had spells at Dundee United, Queen’s Park, Motherwell and Hamilton.
He earned 5 caps between 1959 and 1961.
He passed away on September 12th, aged 84.

Eugenio Bersellini 

Eugenio Bersellini was an Italian midfielder from the 50s and 60s.
He had an undistinguished playing career, it was really as a Manager that he made his mark.
He managed a multitude of clubs such as Inter, Sampdoria, Torino and Fiorentina among others.
He passed away on September 17th, aged 81.

He spent his career at Anderlecht.

He spent over a decade at Lokomotiv Moscow.

He passed away on September 28th, aged only 46.

Gunnar Thoresen 

Gunnar Thoresen was a Norway player from late 30s into the early 60s.
He spent his career at Larvik Turn. He was the father of 70s-80s International Hallvar Thoresen.
He earned 64 caps between 1946 and 1959.
He passed away on September 30th, aged 97.


Olivier Baudry 
Olivier Baudry was a French midfielder from the late 90s into the early 2000s.
He had spells at Sochaux, Lausanne, St Etienne among others.
He passed away on October 1st, aged only 44 after a long illness.

Manuel Sanchís Martínez was a Spanish defender from the 50s into the early 70s.
He is remembered for his spell at Real Madrid in the 60s. His son (also named Manuel Sanchis) was also a Real Madrid defender (80s into the early 2000s).

He passed away on October 31st, aged just 35.
